The Chief Minister and three of his cabinet colleagues are among 144 candidates whose fate will be decided today in the third phase of polling in 16 seats spread across Budgam, Pulwama and Baramulla districts.

  • Overall Voting percentage till 2 pm is 43.64%

JK Polling  till 2pm constituency wise

2.40 pm:Polling percentage phase-3 at 1.00 pm on Tuesday. With 50% turnout, Chrar-e-Sharief tops:

  • BARAMULLA DISTRICT Uri : 41 % Rafiabad : 34.3 % Sopore: 18.5 % Sangrama: 29.7 % Baramulla: 25.7 % Gulmarg: 40.5 % Pattan: 32 %
  • BUDGAM DISTRICT Chadoora : 44 % Budgam: 42.39 % Beerwah: 39.72 % Khansahab: 44.82 % Cherari Sharief: 49.5 %
  • PULWAMA DISTRICT Tral: 24.51 % Pampore: 30.05 % Pulwama: 25.25 % Rajpora: 35.37 %
  • Overall voting percentage till 12 noon is 27.03%
  • 1.45 pm: 21.55% voting recorded in Pulwama district till 12 pm

J&K Polling % till 12 pm Constituency wise

 

  • 12.50 pm: Petrol bomb hurled at a booth in Gulmarg constituency, no casualties reported
  • 12.23 pm: Intense stone pelting reported in Palhalan area of Baramulla in Kashmir on the day of third phase of elections.
  • 11.20 am: Poll % in parts of J&K till 10 am: Uri - 10.25 %, Rafiabad - 12.00 %, Sopore - 4.00 %, Sangrama - 10.00 %, Baramulla - 9.87 %, Gulmarg - 15.02 %, Pattan - 8.09 %
  • 11.43 am: Pulwama polling records 12.28% up to 11 am.
  • Tral = 5.41 Pampore = 12.28 Pulwama = 7.62 Rajpura = 13%

  • 10.05am: Brisk polling has been reported in the first two hours in the two states – Jharkhand & J&K - where voting began this morning. 09:00 am:
  • 9:20apm PDP represents nine of the 16 seats while the ruling NC holds only four. Congress and Peoples Democratic Front won one seat each in the last polls while one seat went to Independent.
  • 09:20 am: Omar Abdullah, who is seeking a second term in the Assembly, faces a stiff challenge from sitting PDP MLA Mohammad Shafi Wani and Congress nominee Nazir Ahmad Khan, whose father Sarfaraz Khan had won from Beerwah in 2002 elections as a PDP candidate.
  • Omar Abdullah, who chose to contest from Beerwah in Budgam instead of his family bastion of Ganderbal, hopes that some of the recent steps taken by his government for the area will help him sail through the electoral tide from a constituency which was won by PDP candidates in the last two elections.

08:40 am: In Jammu and Kashmir, a total of 144 candidates are in the fray including 10 other sitting MLAs. 1,781 polling stations have been set up in the area. 08:31 am: The stakes are high for Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as it held nine of the sixteen Assembly constituencies which have an electorate of 13.69 lakh electors, including 6.51 lakh women.

08:25 am: In Jammu and Kashmir, all eyes will be on Uri and Tral constituencies, which were hit by militant violence ahead of the polls. The first two phases of elections in the state saw a record turnout of over 70 per cent, with voters ignoring boycott calls by separatists and militant outfits.

08:20 am: Security arrangements in all the three districts have been strengthened in the wake of Friday's violence, where 21 persons including 11 security personnel and eight militants were killed in four incidents in the Valley. 08:17 am: Braving cold weather, voters lined up at polling stations much before the start of the voting time at 8 am. 08:10 am: Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged voters to turn up in large numbers and cast their votes in the ongoing elections in Jharkhand and Jammu and Kashmir.
