Jammu & Kashmir assembly Polls: J&K's Chief Electoral Officer reviews prepapration for Phase 2 on Dec 2Jammu: J&K's Chief Electoral Officer Umang Narula reviewed the preparations for the 2nd phase of assembly election scheduled on December 2 with the district election officials and top police officers of five districts, namely, Kupwara, Kulgam, Reasi, Udhampur and Poonch. 

While speaking with the officials through video-conferencing, Narula called for foolproof security arrangements to ensure that the elections are free and fair. He also sought close coordination between various agencies associated with the poll.

He also directed timely despatching of polling staff and material to the polling stations and distribution of voter slips among the voters. Narula later expressed satisfaction over the arrangements and asked the concerned officials to give a final touch to the steps undertaken for a smooth polling.

It was said during the vide-conference that 122 polling stations in Reasi, Poonch, Udhampur, Kupwara amd Kulgam have been identified as model polling stations which will be equipped with basic facilities. Besides, all critical, sensiitive and hyper-sensitive polling stations will be monitored through webcasting. ADGP (Armed), SM Sahai, Deputy. CEOs Rakesh Srangal and Rashpal Singh and Consultant Elections S Harcharan Singh were also present in the video-conferencing session.

Eighteen out of 87 assembly seats will go to election on December 2. The first phase was held on November 25 when 15 seats went to polling.
