BJP to replicate LS Polls 2014 strategy in Uttar Pradesh, Amit Shah,SP, BJP National Executive Meeting, Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2017

THE BJP is set to replicate the strategy that won it a record 71 of the state’s 80 Lok Sabha seats two years ago in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly election scheduled early next year. On the menu, thus, are rallies by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, party chief Amit Shah’s direct interaction with booth level party activists, and the RSS’s works at the ground level.

As the momentum builds up, the Prime Minister has held rallies in Bareilly and Saharanpur, and will address another in Allahabad on June 13 on the concluding day of the two-day BJP National Executive.

Shah has already begun meeting party activists. “He will interact with nearly 1.25 lakh BJP workers who will work at booth levels. Almost all booths in-charge will have a meeting with Amit Shah,” a source in the party said.

The BJP has divided UP into six kshetras (regions) — Kashi, Kanpur-Bundelkhand, Gorakhpur, Awadh, Braj and Paschim. Shah, the source said, will address party workers in each region. “During the meeting, he will motivate them to work hard and enable the party to return to power after 15 years,” a BJP leader said. “Motivating party workers is important, as there are almost 200 seats which the BJP has not won in the last three state elections.

“There are seats in which the party has not been able to win more than 5,000 votes.”Party leaders also believe Shah’s statement that the BJP’s main rival in 2017 Assembly election will be the SP will help the party cash in on the anti-incumbency factor.
