As many as 7 candidates of Samajwadi Party have been declared elected unopposed in the ongoing elections of the Members of Legislative Council through the local bodies' constituency. As a result, the total number of candidates in the poll fray are 28. Elections were to be held on 35 seats.

97.22 % polling was recoded in UP Legislative Council Election

- Elaborate arrangements have been made by the Election Commission for the polling, which would from 8 a.m. till 4 p.m.

The 7 seats covered almost 18 districts. In the March 3 voting for 28 seats spread over 57 districts would take place. In the elections, as many as 1 lakh voters would be casting their votes at 729 polling booths. Counting of votes would take place on March 6, while the entire polling process would be over by March 9.
In order to ensure free and fair polls, the Election Commission of India, has deputed central para-military forces at sensitive locations, while at other places, PAC has been posted. The videography of the entire polling process would be done at every polling booth.
