About Ambedkar Nagar:

Named after Bhimrao Ambedkar, the district of Ambedkar Nagar covers an area of 2,520 sq km and is a part of the Faizabad Division. Akbarpur is the headquarters of the district and it has a total of 3,955 villages. It comprises of four tehsils; Akbarpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Tanda and Jalalpur.

According to 2011 census data, it has a population of 2,398,709 and is India's 186th most populous district.About 52% of the population is male whereas 48% is female. From 2001-2011, its population growth rate was 18.35% and it has a population density of 1,021 people per sq km. 14.15% of the population is below the age of six and the sex ratio is 978 females per 1000 males. The average literacy rate of Ambedkar Nagar is 72.23% with male literacy rate at 81.66% and female literacy rate at 62.66%.
