sitting MLAs attended a party rally here during which they exhorted the lectorate of the constituency to ensure the victory of their party candidate.

The Moga seat fell vacant after the Congress MLA Joginder Pal Jain resigned and joined SAD (Badal), which has promised to field him from this Assembly segment in the by-poll.

The PCC President reminded the ruling SAD that "it should not take it for granted that it will remain in power for five years just because it won the elections."

"We have seen President's rule being imposed (earlier)," he warned while referring to the alleged law and order deterioration in the state. Meanwhile, reacting sharply to the party's rally, the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal said that "Congress should be prepared for a more humiliating defeat in Moga".

Chandigarh:09 Jan 2013

Punjab Government on Tuesday approved two mega projects worth Rs 708.88 crore to be set up in Ludhiana and Mohali districts.

The projects were approved at a meeting of the Empowered Committee on mega projects presided over by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal in Chandigarh on Tuesday, an official spokesman said.

He said that the committee had cleared the mega project - Multi Model Logistic Hub (MMLH) with an investment of Rs 487.38 crore to be set up by Punjab State Container and Warehousing Corporation Limited (CONWARE) in collaboration with the Container Corporation of India (CONCOR) in Ludhiana district.

The project will spread over an area of 150 acres and generate direct and indirect employment to 6,000 persons, he added. The spokesman further added that the empowered committee also gave its nod for the setting up of a Cricket Stadium-cum-Sports complex with capacity for 40,000 spectators with an investment of Rs 221.50 crore in Mohali by the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA).

This would be the second stadium to be set up by the PCA in Mohali district after the existing stadium in Phase nine of the township.
