One of the 20 Lok Sabha constituencies which represent the coastal state of Kerala in the Indian Parliament is Alappuzha. 1,147,162 is the total electorate count in the Alappuzha Lok Sabha Constituency (constituency number 15). About Alappuzha:
The district of Alappuzha, formerly known as the Alleppey district, has the city of Alappuzha as its administrative headquarters.
According to the 2011 Census of India, the Alappuzha district, with a population of 2,121,943, has the highest population density among all districts of the state. Due to its proximity to the sea, the district of Alappuzha primarily rests on agrarian and marine economy, with the tourism sector contributing substantially. Coir manufacturing is the most famous activity in Alappuzha, besides other industries such as handlooms and marine products, among other small-scale industries like matches and mats. Revolving around the Kuttanad region, which is popularly called the ‘Rice Bowl of India’, the Alappuzha district produces fine quality of rice.
