About the Constituency:
Coming into existence in the year 2008 as per the Delimitation Commission’s orders, Bangalore Rural is one of the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies in the southern state of Karnataka. 1,904,135 is the total electorate count in the Bangalore Rural Lok Sabha Constituency (constituency number 23). Out of these 992,687 number of electorates are males and the remaining 911,448 are belong to the female category as the Election commission of India 2009 reports suggest.
Assembly Segments:
There are eight Assembly segments in this constituency, out of which Anekal is reserved for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes. While the assembly segment of Kunigal belongs to the Tumkur district, and the segments of Rajarajeshwarinagar, Anekal and Bangalore South cover the Bangalore Urban District, the remaining four assembly constituencies cover the Ramanagaram District. These assembly segments were earlier part of the erstwhile Kanakapura Lok Sabha constituency.

It is geographically located within the administrative district of Bangalore Urban. It also covers part of the districts of Ramanagaram and Tumkur. The economy of Bangalore Rural depends on a rich agricultural sector, which grows superior quality of crops such as ragi, rice, groundnut, sugarcane, castor, grapes, and mulberry. Besides, this constituency also has a flourishing IT sector.
