Here are the key highlights of Union Budget 2014-15:
Ø Narendra Modi's first budget targets Indian growth, curbs deficit
Ø Budget 2014: Arun Jaitley proposes 5 new IITs, 5 new IIMs, 4 new AIIMS
Ø Budget 2014: No major boost to Defence, Jaitley allots Rs 2.29 lakh crore
- Jaitley focuses on women safety, schemes for girls
- Budget - Sharp recovery in the Sensex. Up more than 400 points from the day's lows.
- Budget - Cigarette and Aerated drinks to cost more.
- Budget - Footwear to be cheaper. Certain TV sets will be cheaper depending on their size.
- Budget 2014:Hikes customs duty on flat steel products to 7.5% from 5%
- Budget 2014:Basic custom duty on LED panel below 19 inch made zero
- Budget 2014:"food processing will get incentives. Excise duty would be reduced to 6% from 10%"
- Budget 2014:"Housing loan intrestexemption increased to Rs.2 lakh from Rs.1.5 lakh".
