Maharashtra Cabinet 2014: BJP expand Govt in Maharshtra today, 10 Shiv Sena ministers to take oath in BJP-led govt
After the acrimonious three months in which they called each other names, the BJP and the Shiv Sena are friends again. Sounding Shiv Sena's entry into the Maharashtra government, 10 ministers, 5 cabinet and 5 MoS, will take oath on Friday.
The cabinet ministers are Eknath Shinde, Subash Desai, Ramdas Kadam, Divakar Raote and Dr Dipak Sawant while Ravindra Vaikar, Sanjay Rathod (Digras), Vijay Shivtare, Deepak Kesrakar and Rajesh Kshirsagar will take oath as ministers of state.
Earlier on Thursday, the BJP and its estranged partner Shiv Sena decided to join hands once again in Maharashtra and held a joint press conference in Mumbai and declared their patch-up. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the Shiv Sena will get 12 portfolios in the Cabinet expansion.
The two parties - allies for 25 years - split on September 25 after a bitter spat and fought the assembly elections separately. The BJP emerged as the single largest party with 123 but effectively 122 due to the death of a legislator, the Sena claimed 63 seats, the Congress with 42, Nationalist Congress Party with 41, and the remaining 18 seats going to Independents and smaller parties.
