NEW DELHI: Though announcement of seat-sharing has ended tussle among BJP's Bihar allies, it has led to below the radar tension among partners.

Although BJP leaders indicated that the exact number of seats will be finalised in the next couple of days, there are rumblings in the Ram Vilas Paswan-led LJP camp. LJP chief's son and Jamui MP Chirag Paswan is believed to be mounting pressure on the NDA leadership against allotting tickets toJitan Ram Manjhi's party in his Lok Sabha constituency.

Manjhi's political associate Narendra Singh is pitching for two tickets for his sons from two assembly segments in Jamui. Chirag, however, is opposed to such a concession after Manjhi managed to increase his share of seats in the negotiations.

LJP is also eyeing two other assembly segments where BJP is keen to field candidates. Sources in the RLSP conceded that the party hasgrudgingly accepted the seats allotted though it wanted more but would focus on getting choicest seats and bargain hard for them with alliance partners.

BJP leaders said that the party has a broad idea of exact seats it will be sharing with its alliance partners, but indicated that theywere open to minor changes. The party fielded the leaders of all alliance partners —Paswan, Kushwaha and Manjhi — to project a united front after the seat-sharing deal was sealed on Monday. It is for the BJP to ensure that the bickering over exact seats do not spill out in the public.
