Electoral rolls to be revised in Haryana ahead of Assembly Elections

Ahead of Haryana Assembly elections due to be held in October, the State Election Commission would revise the electoral rolls from July 15 to give those eligible another opportunity to enrol.

“The Election Commission of India has released second special summary revision program of photo electoral rolls for all the legislative assembly of Haryana, with respect to January 1, 2019, as qualifying date,” chief electoral officer, Haryana, Rajiv Ranjan said.

He said that the integrated draft electoral roll will be published on July 15. The period for filing claims and objections will be from July 15 to 30. The special campaign will be run on July 20 and 21, and on July 27 and 28 (Saturday and Sunday).

Similarly, the verification by Supervisors, AERO or ERO will be done by August 5 and disposal of claims and objections will be done by August 13. The super checking by Deputy DEO, DEO, roll observer or CEO will be done by August 16 and the final publication of electoral roll will be done on August 19, he said.

Ranjan also said that in view of the impending general election to the legislative assembly in the states and to give another opportunity to un-enrolled eligible persons to get their names registered in the electoral roll so that they are not deprived of voting in elections , the Election Commission has  decided to undertake second summary revision of photo electoral rolls in the poll going states.

During Lok Sabha polls, the state had as many as 1,80,56,896 registered electors including 1,05,859 service electors. Out of the total voters, 97,16,516 are male, 83,40,173 are female and 207 transgender electors in the state.
