J&K Polls 2014: Awami Ittehad Front announces candidates for assembly polls
Srinagar, Nov 01: The newly formed political party Jammu and Kashmir Awami Ittehad Front (JKAIF) on Saturday announced the first list of its candidates for the forthcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
The party was founded by JKAIF president Rabia Baji, according to a statement said the party is pitching candidates in various areas so that a new era in the political scenario could start where the candidates or politicians would not come to rule but to serve the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “I request the Kashmiri Awam to come forward and to cast vote so that the change could be brought in the political scenario of Jammu and Kashmir,” she said in a statement.
The list which was announced after a meeting of party’s working body, presided over by its president Rabia Baji, includes
- Nazir Ahmad Rather for Chrar-i-Sharief ,
- Bashir Ahmad for Khan Sahib,
- Master Ghulam Mohammad for Eidgah,
- Bashir Ahmad Nishati for Sonwar,
- Mehraj Malik for Bhaderwah
- Mohammad Yousaf for Doda
The party statement further read: “As now the newly elected members would be required who would work on grass root, to not only change the political scenario and bring development and prosperity in the state but also help the Kashmiri people who suffered during recent floods especially traders association, people associated with agriculture, horticulture, handicrafts & handloom sectors and those who lost their houses, to get them rehabilitated.”
“So I request Awam, keeping in view the restructuring of the state, to come forward and cast their important vote because that is the need of the hour,” she said, adding that the next list of candidates would be declared in coming days.
The Jammu and Kashmir Awami Ittehad Front (JKAIF) was formed by one social activist Rabia Baji who unsuccessfully contested the parliamentary polls earlier this year from Srinagar-Budgam segment. She is also the chairperson of All India Centre for Rural Development (AICURD), an NGO which claims to be working for “peace process” in the Kashmir Valley.
