Chief Election Commissioner Naseem Zaidi, along with his team, will visit Bihar on August 7 to review preparations for the upcoming assembly polls. The team will meet representatives of various political parties on August 7 and top officials to district-level officials on August 8 to make elaborate security plans for an error-free election process, officials in the Election Commission said.
The dates of the elections would be announced after the meetings. This is crucial because the Model Code of Conduct will kick in the day the Election Commission announces the election schedule.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to address three "parivartan" rallies (rallies for change) in Bihar this month to bolster BJP's prospects in the elections. The rallies will be held at Gaya on August 9, Saharsa on August 19 and Bhagalpur on August 30. Tthe venues have been chosen in such a manner that they covered about 10 adjoining districts of Bihar.
The term of the Bihar assembly will end in November.
