HAM spokesperson and rebel JD (U) MLA Rajib Ranjan said about 1 lakh people are expected to attend the 'Garib Swabhiman Rally' at the Police Lines ground in Bairiya locality of the town. A 50x25-feet stage has been prepared.

Former minister and MLC Mahachandra Prasad Singh was monitoring the preparations. Manjhi will leave Patna around 9.30am from 1 Anne Marg with a cavalcade of over 50 vehicles. Grand reception has been planned for Manjhi at 15 places along the route to Muzaffarpur, he said.
After Muzaffarpur, Manjhi would travel to Gaya on March 21, Munger on March 23, Bhagalpur on March 24, Darbhanga on April 2, Saharsa on April 5, Purnia on April 6, Nalanda on April 8 and Bikramganj on April 9 to muster support for the April 20 meeting at Gandhi Maidan in Patna.
"The response is likely to be unprecedented after Jaya Prakash Narayan's movement in Bihar. People from all castes and classes are with Manjhi, who was working for the poor among them before Nitish conspired to remove him," Rajib told TOI.
The town has been decorated with 60 makeshift gates and a large number of posters and hoardings to welcome Manjhi and his supporters. Mahachandra said the rally would change the political equations in Bihar before the next assembly election. Dalits, Mahadalits along with backward and minority community members were enthusiastic to take part in the rally.
"It is surprising that upper caste people are also supporting Manjhi as they are very angry with chief minister Nitish Kumar who annulled the 34 decisions taken by Manjhi government for the welfare of downtrodden people of the state," he said.
A large number of George Fernandes' supporters in the district are watching the situation before taking any step forward against Nitish. Senior RJD leader Harendra Kumar said he has extended moral support to Manjhi because he has done a lot for the downtrodden section of the society, but Nitish demoralized him in public. BJP MLA Suresh Sharma said he supported Manjhi's stand and BJP workers would participate in the rally.
