Bihar CM Jitan Ram Manjhi may be replaced, a decision likely in a couple of days
New Delhi: Amidst controversial statements made by by Bihar Chief Jitan Ram Manjhi in the recent past, there are speculations that he might be replaced.
Sources said Manjhi's predecessor Nitish Kumar is unhappy with the controversial statements he has made ever since he became the Bihar CM and his style of functioning.
The sources said Kumar and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad may meet in the next couple of days to discuss the issue. An understanding between the Janata Dal (U) and RJD seems to be growing on the need for them to merge to pose a serious challenge to the BJP.
The sources said there is an opinion among the senior Janata Dal (U) leaders that Manjhi needs to be replaced if the party has to fight this election on the governance plank.
As regards some of the controversial statements made by Manjhi are concerned, he had justified the action of the Maoists. He had also admitted that he had paid bribes.
A decision on Manjhi's fate is likely to be taken soon as the JD(U) and RJD want to switch on to the election mode. Assembly elections in Bihar are slated to be held later this year.
