NDA partners BJP and JD(U) on Monday finalised seat adjustments for the Bihar assembly polls. The JD(U) is expected to contest on 141 and BJP on 102 assembly seats in Bihar. Seat Sharing Arrangement for 2010 Assembly Elections 2010 JDU : 141 Seats BJP: 102 Seats Seat Sharing Arrangement in 2005 Assembly Elections Was JDU : 138 Seats BJP: 103 Seats Currently, the JD-U has 81 sitting legislators and the BJP 54. This arrangement was agreed by JD(U) president Sharad Yadav and chief minister Nitish Kumar. However, there is hitch on some seats which have been reorganised by the delimitation commission. About a dozen MLAs of both JD(U) and BJP are likely to be denied ticket. The Congress list of candidates was expected by Sep 20 but now by all indications it will be declared by Sep 25. Party sources said the screening committee for Bihar was yet to finalise its recommendations for 103 seats that will go to the polls in the last three phases. The recommendations will be sent to the Congress' Central Election Committee (CEC), headed by party chief Sonia Gandhi, for final clearance. |
