Patna/New Delhi:
Two days after snapping ties with the Bharatiya Janata Party, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar seem to be warming up to the Congress. Hours after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh called Nitish a secular leader, the Bihar Chief Minister thanked him saying, "What the PM has said is right. I thank him for that. There is no hidden message in that." Manmohan Singh reached out to the Janata Dal United leader on Monday saying he is a secular leader. The PM also said that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is not a threat to the Congress in the next Lok Sabha election. On the possibility of Congress-JD(U) alliance, Manmohan Singh said, "In politics there are no permanent friends or enemies; we will decide as situation evolves. We have always sought the support from right thinking parties." /"What the PM has said is right. I thank him for that. There is no hidden message in that,\" the Bihar CM said. He also asserted confidence that the UPA will come back to power after the Lok Sabha elections in 2014. "We will have a third go as UPA and the people will again repose their faith in us," the Prime Minister said. Since the JD(U) hinted at breaking ties with the BJP, the Congress is leaving no chance to praise Nitish. The new Congress media wing chief Ajay Maken earlier said that the party is growing under Rahul Gandhi while the NDA is shrinking with the JD(U) walking out of the alliance in Bihar Maken also said the Congress was always open to allying with secular parties. He further said that the Congress is keeping a close eye on Bihar situation and the party will play a major role in the state in the near future. source:http://ibnlive.in.com |
