About Pune:

Pune is one of the 48 parliamentary constituencies of Maharashtra and is the district headquarters of Pune district. The Pune Parliamentary constituency (constituency number 34) has a total of 1,806,953 electorates out of which 872,759 are females and 934,194 are males according to Election Commission of India 2009 reports.

 About Pune:

Pune is the eighth largest city of the country and the second largest city in the state. Its total population is over five million with 50% consisting of males and has a sex ratio of 945 females per 1,000 males. In Pune, Marathi is the official and the most widely spoken language while Hindi and English are prevalent as well. About 70% of the population is Hindu while Muslims, Buddhists, Jains and Christians also reside here.

It is located on the Deccan Plateau and covers an area of over 450 sq km. The city is also an important educational centre and has over 100 educational institutions and nine universities. It is the largest learning centre for Japanese as well as a popular centre for Germans and French. Its economy is boosted by the many mechanical engineering industries like Tata Motors. With over 220 German companies being established here, Pune is the largest German industrial hub. National Highways NH-4, NH-9 and NH-50 connect it to several major cities.
