About the Constituency:

The Parliamentary Constituency of Sambhal is one of the 80 Lok Sabha constituencies of the state of Uttar Pradesh, formed before 1977 and it presently comprises of five Vidhan Sabha segments with one reserved for the SC category. The Sambhal Lok Sabha Constituency (constituency number 8) consists of 1,290,810 number of electorates in totality, of these 704,630 are males and 586,180 are females as the Election commission of India 2009 data suggests.

About Sambhal:

The administrative headquarters of Sambhal district is situated in the historical city of Sambhal. It is located in the north-western part of the state at a distance of 158.6 km from the national capital, New Delhi. Sambhal covers an area of 16 sq. km. and lies at an average elevation of 293 meters. Hindi and Urdu are the official languages of this city.

According to the census data of 2011, Sambhal has a total population of 210,465 of which 53% are males and 47% are females. It has a sex ratio of 908 females per 1000 males. 12.4% of the population is below the age of six. The city of Sambhal has an average literacy of 70.65% with male literacy at 74.05% and female literacy at 66.90%. This area is dominated by Muslim and Yadav communities. Sambhal has a number of notable schools and colleges, both government and private. It is connected to the rest of the state by a well-established network of roads and railways.
