The Hajipur city which is an integral part of the Hajipur parliamentary constituency is the headquarters as well as the administrative centre of the district. Former Union Minister and present Member of the Rajya Sabha, Ram Vilas Paswan, has won from the Hajipur parliamentary constituency for a majority of his terms, representing the Janata Party and later the Janata Dal party.
The state’s capital city of Patna lies only 10 kms away from Hajipur city, and is well connected with it by the Mahatma Gandhi Setu. The economy of the parliamentary constituency besides thriving on a rich service sector, survives on a considerably strong agricultural base for the economy to bloom on.
Vaishali district comes in the category of economically backward districts of the country, thus requiring a special supply of government funds.
