Elections for Odisha civic polls peaceful, 72% polling recorded
Voting ends peacefully in 8 civic bodies in Odisha. The State Election Commissioner (SEC) Rabi Narayan Senapati informed that 72% polling recorded.
Three municipalities: Paradip, Sunabeda and Belpahar and five Notified Area Councils: Rairakhol, Balimela, Dasapalla, Tushara and Dharmagada went to polls.
According to the office of State Election Commissioner (SEC), there was no report of untoward incidents even as people turned up in large numbers before polling booths.
Poll percentage, according to reports received from different districts, was close to 72 per cent. Counting of votes and declaration of results would take place on Wednesday.
Around 469 candidates were in the fray for 129 wards in eight ULBs. The SEC office said 183 polling booths were set up. Of these, 115 were identified as sensitive.
