Narendra Modi likely to meet mines, steel, MSME ministries in Coming Days.


 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to meet ministers and secretaries of mines, steel and MSME ministries, among others, on June 27 to discuss sectoral problems and draw roadmap to revitalise the sectors. Labour and Textiles ministries will also be part of the meeting with Prime Minister, who will take stock of their activities as well. Though presentations on the activities of the departments would be made by their respective secretaries, the Prime Minister wants all the senior and junior ministers concerned be present, said a source in one of the ministries called for the meeting.

Modi government rules out rollback of rail fare hike despite protests


 

The Narendra Modi government has ruled out a rollback in rail fare hike despite pressure from ally Shiv Sena. Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress MPs from Maharashtra also met Rail Minister Sadananda Gowda on Tuesday over the fare hike in local trains in Mumbai. The minister has assured them that the concerns of Mumbaikars will be considered. Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray has spoken to Finance Minister Arun Jaitely. But the government has ruled out a rollback - but the hike could be staggered for suburban trains.

Oil Ministry proposes to hike LPG price by Rs 5 per cylinder: Sources


 

The Oil Ministry is considering a proposal to hike the price of LPG by Rs 5 per cylinder. The price of kerosene is also likely to be increased by Rs 1. The rise in prices comes amidst high level meetings being held over gas pricing. After Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high level meeting on Sunday to take a decision on gas prices, his Principal Secretary Nripendra Misra chaired a second high level meeting over the issue on Tuesday. The Oil ministry is working on new Cabinet note for gas prices. The Principal Secretary to the PM and the Finance Minister are reviewing the Rangarajan Gas Price Formula. A decision on gas pricing is expected soon.
