ABP News-Nielsen Opinion Poll: Which will form govt in Maharashtra?
New Delhi: BJP and its current allies are likely to win 120 seats which wouldn’t be enough to form the government in Maharashtra, reveals ABP News-Nielsen Opinion Poll. BJP’s former ally Shiv Sena is projected to win 67 seats.
BJP is falling short of 25 seats and in this scenario would require to join hands again with Shiv Sena. Congress is predicted to win 46 seats while its former partner NCP gets 36 seats, the latest survey has revealed.
MNS is likely to garner 8 seats while smaller parties and independents are projected to bag 11 seats. 37% of the respondents feel that BJP is most likely to win in the upcoming assembly elections.

Despite Gopinath Munde, the BJP has living in high hopes & they seem to solely depend on the Modi wave for a landslide victory. The party is still struggling to choose a chief ministerial candidate. The issues plaguing the voters' minds are the same as they were during the Lok Sabha polls earlier this year. Ability to bring down inflation and corruption have been cited as the major reasons for shift to BJP.
As expected Shiv Sena supporters who had voted for BJP in the Lok Sabha elections because of the alliance are now moving to Shiv Sena as these parties are contesting separately. Those who are moving from BJP to Congress said that they voted for BJP in Lok Sabha elections because of Narendra Modi.
A similar 63% feel that they would not vote for Congress even if Prithviraj Chavan is projected as the Chief Minister candidate of the party. Majority (57%) of the respondents said that they were not satisfied with the performance of Prithviraj Chavan as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
Prithviraj Chavan's inabilities to control inflation and reduce corruption were the main reasons why people are not voting for Congress. About one-third of the respondents feel that both BJP and Shivsena would suffer from the break-up of BJP and Shivsena alliance in the state.
Just about half of respondents feel that there is no 'Modi wave' in Maharashtra before the upcoming assembly elections. 48% respondents feel that it is the right time for estranged cousins - Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray to come together.
