Gurgaon Municipal Corporation MCG Election Voting Live 2017

  4. The Congress has decided not to contest the September 24 Gurgaon municipal corporation election on its party symbol as per past practice. This was decided by the party at a meeting of leaders from the state with Congress general secretary in-charge of Haryana Kamal Nath.
  5. Seventy-three candidates, who contested the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) elections in 2011, have been barred from entering the fray for the forthcoming civic polls and any other election over the next 3 years for failing to disclose their expenditure to the election commission (EC) within the stipulated time.
  6. As per the EC rule, an electoral candidate needs to submit his or her election expenditure within 30 days of entering the fray.

The polls for the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) will be held on September 24.

  1. The party received 800 applications from aspirants till September 4, of which 400 applications were shortlisted. The candidates were called for individual interviews on Thursday. The party has decided to contest the civic body polls on the party symbol.
  2. Meetings were held at six different locations and the candidates were interviewed by members of a sub-committee formed on Tuesday for shortlisting 35 candidates.

Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon Election Reservation Ward List .

  1. 18 of the 35 wards, selected through a lucky draw on Thursday, have been designated for reserved categories.
  2. Declared 10 wards that will be reserved for women and this includes wards; 2, 5, 9 ,16, 22, 26, 27,32, 33, and 35. And six wards such as: 1, 7, 11, 17, 21 and 25 have been reserved for scheduled caste candidates. Ward number 1 and 7 are also reserved for women candidates while ward number 24 and 31 are reserved for backward castes.
  3. According to a notification issued by the Haryana State Election Commission, the results will also be announced the same day.
  4. The civic polls for the Millennium city are being conducted after a delay of over one year. Tenure of elected representatives of MCG ended had on June 21 last year. .

  5. Announcing the schedule of the election, State Election Commissioner, Dalip Singh said that there are as many as 5,57,967 voters, including 2,92,462 males and 2,65,505 females, in the Municipal Corporation, Gurugram.
  6. He said that as many as 18 of the 35 wards of the MC Gurugram are reserved— four for SC members, two each for SC women and BC and 10 for women candidates. 546 polling stations would be set up for the election in Gurugram for elections, said he.
  7. Singh added that the last general election of MC Gurugram was held in the year 2011.

  8. The polls for Municipal Committee, Barara in Ambala, Radaur in Yamuna Nagar and Bye-elections in ward number 9, 2 and 10 of Municipal Committee, Pehowa (Kurukshetra), Pataudi (Gurugram) and Dharuhera (Rewari) would also be held on September 24 between 7 am and 5 pm, said he.

Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon Election News Updates

  • Haryana state election commission (SEC), on Wednesday morning, announced the schedule for MCG elections, to be held on September 24, with results to be declared the same day. With this announcement, the model code of conduct has also come into force. The SEC said expenditure limit for contesting the election has been fixed at Rs 5 lakh per candidate. Their photographs will be printed along with other particulars on the EVMs. But there won't be VVPAT.
  • The state election commissioner, Dalip Singh, said as many as 5,57,967 voters, including 2,92,462 males and 2,65,505 females, can exercise their franchise in this election. "All candidates are required to maintain an account of election expenditure and submit it within 30 days from the declaration of results to the deputy commissioner or an officer authorized by SEC, failing which the candidate could be disqualified for five years," said Singh.
