Bihar Assembly Elections 2015: Top 7 BJP chief minister aspirants for the top job,Bihar assembly election 2015, bihar polls, who is the better CM candidate for bihar polls

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has sealed the seat sharing deal but didn’t announce who will be their chief ministerial candidate in the high-voltage Bihar Assembly Elections 2015. There are many aspirants for the chief ministerial post in the NDA and BJP. The BJP has long list of leaders who want or could be chief ministerial candidate for Bihar polls with Sushil Kumar Modi and Nand Kishore Yadav leading the pack and few Union Ministers are also in the race. We list the aspirants and analyse the candidates:

1- Sushil Kumar Modi:

Strong point: 63-year-old senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi is the front runner of the CM race if NDA comes to power. The 63-year-old served as the deputy chief minister in the JD(U)-BJP coalition government. Besides being a leader of opposition in the assembly, Modi also has good administrative experience. Modi headed the GST panel of chief ministers. He has been BJP’s national vice president and enjoys support of RSS too.

Weak point: A section of the BJP is unhappy with him and pulling him down.

2- Nand Kishore Yadav:

Strong point: Nand Kishore Yadav is BJP’s Yadav face in Bihar. The five-term MLA is currently serving as opposition leader in Bihar Assembly. BJP may pick Nand Kishore Yadav as a part of caste based politics to break Lalu Prasad Yadav’s traditional vote bank.

Weak point: However Yadav doesn’t have as much legislative experience as Sushil Kumar Modi has.

3- Prem Kumar:

Strong point: Prem Kumar is a six-time MLA from Gaya and belongs to Other Backward Class (OBC). Kumar is one of the prominent grass-root leader of the party in the past four decades. He has held various portfolios during NDA regime. He already has claimed to be the most suitable CM candidate.

Weak point: The weak point of Kumar is he was never projected as party leader in the state.

4- Syed Shahnawaz Hussain:

Strong point: BJP’s Muslim face Syed Shahnawaz Hussain is among the prominent national leaders of BJP. Despite being a Muslim, Shahnawaz Hussain joined Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and has been serving as loyal worker of the saffron party. He was elected Member of Parliament twice from Bihar and is serving as national spokesperson of the party. the BJP could choose Shahnawaz Hussain to woo minorities especially Muslims and wipe the blot of being a communal party.

Weak point: Shahnawaz Hussain lost Lok Sabha election from Bihar held last year. He didn’t play significant role in state politics.

5- Radha Mohan:

Strong point: Radha Mohan is considered a leader close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Radha Mohan, who headed state BJP unit for two terms is currently serving as agricultural minister at Centre.

Weak point: Radha Mohan doesn’t have an image of popular state leader.

6- Rajiv Pratap Rudy:

Strong point: Rajiv Pratap Rudy is currently representing a Lok Sabha seat from Bihar and serving as Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. An effective orator, he has been associated with the BJP since 1986.

Weak point: However Rudy has been associated with Bihar politics since 27 years but he wasn’t projected as state leader in the BJP.

7- C P Thakur:

Strong point: The Rajyasabha MP made his ambitions clear in June, when he announced his desire to be BJP’s chief ministerial candidate. An upper-caste Hindu, Thakur made his mark in Bihar politics in the post-Mandal era.

Weak point: Thakur’s age is the biggest hurdle. He is 80-year-old.
