Bihar: 3 senior leaders of RJD-JDU alliance join BJP, RJD, BJP, Renu Kumari Kushwaha , Dr Sunil Kumar, JD(U), biharassemblyelections, Bihar polls
In a major embarrassment to the grand alliance forged by the Janata Dal (United), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress in Bihar, three of its senior leaders joined the rival camp of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), alleging ‘suffocation’ in their parties.
This is understood to be a body blow to grand alliance just before its Swabhiman rally in Patna on Sunday. The two who have quit the alliance are Renu Kumari Kushwaha and Dr Sunil Kumar .
Both of these leaders were key for the JD(U), as they held sway over a significant number of Kushwaha votes. Renu was suspended from the JD(U) last year for anti-party activities, but she was yet to join any party. The other JDU man Dr Kumar was said to be disillusioned with Nitish Kumar’s decision of abandoning the 17-year-old alliance with BJP.
Further, in a blow to RJD, it’s ex-legislator from Baruraj in Muzaffarpur, Brij Kishore Singh, also joined the BJP.
