PM Narendra Modi to announce package for Bihar on Saturday: Sushil Modi

PATNA: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will announce a package and set an agenda for development of Bihar during his visit to the state on Saturday, senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi said today.

"The Prime Minister will announce a package for Bihar and set an agenda for development of the state in the coming years at a public meeting in Muzaffarpur on July 25," Sushil Modi told reporters.

On state Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's frequent charge that the Prime Minister visits Bihar after a gap of 15-16 months keeping in mind political considerations, Sushil Modi said the PM will be coming to Bihar for official and party- related engagements.

Many projects, related to roads, power and education, will be announced in the coming days. "While some projects are new, some have been pending for some time now. The pending ones will be given a green signal by the Union government very soon," a party leader said.

Long-pending projects include a new bridge over river Ganga near Mokama. Setting up of institutes like IIT and AIIMS will be some other projects which are likely to get the Centre's nod in the coming days. Besides, a 4,000-mw ultramega power plant, expansion of the Indian Oil refinery and the revival of the fertilizer factory Barauni will be some more projects which are likely to make the cut.

"We are glad that the Prime Minister is coming to Bihar in every 15-16 months. The previous Prime Minister ( Manmohan Singh) had never visited Bihar during his tenure.

"He had only carried out an aerial survey during 2008 Koshi floods and returned to Delhi," Sushil Modi said.

The senior BJP leader alleged that Nitish Kumar created 'obstacles' in the construction of Digha-Sonepur road-cum-rail bridge, otherwise this project too would have been dedicated to the nation by the PM during this visit.
