About
Jyotiraditya Madhavrao Scindia (born 1 January 1971 in Mumbai, Maharashtra) is an Indian politician. He is a Member of Parliament,representing the Guna constituency in the state of Madhya Pradesh and a member of the Indian National Congress party. He was the 'Minister of State with independent charge' (i.e. a junior Minister in the Central Government of India who has independent charge of his ministry) of Power in the cabinet of prime minister Manmohan Singh from October 2012 until May 2014.
CAREER
Jyotiraditya started his student life at the Doon School in Dehradun before completing his B.A. in Economics in Harvard University and his M.B.A. from the Stanford University. Before embarking on his political career, he worked in investment banking and private equity.
Jyotiraditya embarked on his personal political journey in 2002 when he contested in the elections from Guna, Madhya Pradesh. He has been re-elected from Guna four times since .
UNION MINISTER
As a Union Minister, Jyotiraditya has handled diverse portfolios, including Communications and IT, Commerce and Industry, and Power (Independent Charge).
IN THE PARLIAMENT
As Minister of Power, he had the privilege to chair the consultative committee and as an MP, be a part of standing and consultative committees that include defence, external affairs, and FINANCE. As a parliamentarian, he realises the importance in espousing the cause of your region while contributing to national issues and articulating one’s own vision.
IN THE CONSTITUENCY
Jyotiraditya Scindia has represented the parliamentary constituency of Guna, Madhya Pradesh since 2002.
As a Member of Parliament, he has tried to build a synergy between the development of Guna and the overall development of the nation. For him, growth is not limited to the provision of basic infrastructure like roads and power but also encompasses the implementation of social sector schemes, delivery of clean drinking water, establishment of better educational systems, and creation of hybrid systems for vocational training as well as focusing on the infrastructural development of the region as a whole.
In his drive to ensure the inclusive development of his constituency, Jyotiraditya has embarked on a series of projects, some of which are detailed below.
He is president of the regional Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) in India.After the spot fixing scandal in Indian Premier League exploded in the Indian media and subsequently Sanjay Jagdale, a member of the MPCA resigned from his job as secretary from the Board of Control for Cricket in India, Scindia spoke out against corruption in Indian cricket.
