About:
Kiren Rijiju is currently a Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) representing the Arunachal Pradesh west constituency. He is also a member in the Standing Committee on Energy, the Consultative Committee on Petroleum & Gas and the Consultative Committee, Ministry of Tribal Affairs & Development of North Eastern Region. Prior to his election to the Lok Sabha he was a member in the Khadi and Village Industries Commission, Government of India.
Recently Kiren got another feather in his cap when he was selected as a national secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). His selection is the highest such appointment in north east India. He has always been a hardworking, committed and loyal worker of the party and his appointment proves that BJP is a cadre based party and not some hereditary political outfit.
Early Life:
Kiren was born on 19 November 1971 and is a resident of Nafra, Arunachal Pradesh (India). He graduated from Hansraj College, New Delhi and following that studied law at the Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. He married Smt. Joram Rina (now Rina Rijiju) in 2004. She is a graduate from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, New Delhi and a gold medalist from Arunachal University and a lecturer in History in Dera Natung Government College, Itanagar.
He has widely travelled the globe and has been in most continents of the world except South America and Antartica, and dreams of going there someday. Even as a student he participated in the "Festival of India in USSR" held in Moscow in 1987. He has visited many countries in the middle east, Europe and the US as a member of various Parliamentary delegations.
As a Union Minister:
He was made Union Minister of State for Home Affairs of India on 26 May 2014.On 14 October 2014, in Arunachal Pradesh, he called for the construction of a road along the border of China (Tibet) in Arunachal. He again clarified the statement on 1 November 2014 in a clear manner, saying he was talking about infrastructure development in Indian territory and not in Chinese territory. Union minister of state for home affairs Kiren Rijiju said today that film director Anurag Kashyap questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi+ - on the boycott of Pakistani artists after Uri - is "without any logic" and a ploy to grab attention.
Political career;
Kiren Rijiju is considered the face of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in North East India. He served as a Member of Khadi and Village Industries Commission from 2000 to 2005. Kiren Rijiju is arguably the most iconic political leader from Arunachal Pradesh in recent times; he is often being referred to as the "voice of North East India". He occasionally writes articles on security & socio-economic issues.
Rijiju has entered the Lok Sabha for the second time from the Arunachal (West) constituency of Arunachal Pradesh in India.
Rijiju was placed among the top 5 opposition MPs reviewed by their peers in the treasury bench based on high benchmark in debates, discussions and decorum and was placed among stalwarts like L.K. Advani. He was also chosen as the best young MP by many national daily and English fortnightly magazine.
Personal life:
His wife is Joram Rina Rijiju; the couple were married in 2004.She is a graduate from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, New Delhi and is a gold medalist from Arunachal University. She is an assistant professor teaching history at Dera Natung Government College, Itanagar.
