ECI OFFICIAL TO REVIEW POLL PREPARATION IN STATEs

Election Commission of India, Senior Deputy Election Commissioner Umesh Sinha is expected to arrive on August 7 at Raipur to review the preparation for upcoming state general assembly election. It is expected that by the end of August, Chief Election Commissioner would be touring the State.

As per the earlier schedules of State General election for fourth state assembly in Chhattisgarh, the polling is expected to be held in month of November-December. The state level officers’ trainings and other basic preparations have been almost completed. Keeping this in view, the Senior Deputy Election Commissioner Umesh Sinha is expected to arrive on August 7 at Raipur. He would be holding meeting of all the key officials of state on August 8.

In the first round from 9.30 am meeting would be held for district collectors, Commissioners, Inspectors General of Police and Superintendents of Police. After the lunch, he would be holding meeting of Director General of Police, Chief Secretary along with other senior officials of State Government. The third round of talks will be with the political parties mainly Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), along with other political parties of State.

Sinha is expected to submit the report of his review meeting to Chief Election Commissioner. Most probably, the announcement of election schedule is expected by end of August.

Meanwhile, Election Commission has stated that all the VVPATs shall be delivered well within the time required for making the pre-poll preparations. The Commission is monitoring the manufacture and supply of machines on a daily basis to ensure timely delivery. Commission in a statement said that first level checking (FLC) of EVMs and VVPATs have already been commenced across various States.
