How to register your vote in united kingdom
In order to vote in UK elections and referendums you need to be on the electoral register. The electoral register is a list of names and addresses of everyone who is registered to vote in the UK.

To vote in an election or referendum, you must be on the electoral register.
How do I register to vote?
You can now register to vote online in England, Scotland and Wales – visitgov.uk/register-to-vote.
Registering online takes about 5 minutes.
Registering to vote in Northern Ireland?
If you want to register in Northern Ireland, visit the Electoral Office for Northern Ireland website.
Who can register to vote?
- Anyone aged 16 or over (but you cannot vote until you are 18).
- British or qualifying Commonwealth citizens. This means Commonwealth citizens who have leave to remain in the UK or do not require such leave.
- Citizens of the Republic of Ireland or other European Union (EU) member states.
How do I change my name on the electoral register?
In England, Scotland and Wales you will need to complete a change of name form and provide proof of your change of name, such as a marriage or civil partnership certificate, an amended birth certificate, or deed poll.

When you move you need to re-register to your new address.
