Basanta Panda is new President of Odisha BJP - Basanta Panda is all set to become the new president of Odisha BJP unit. As per the election schedule of the party shared with media, today is day for filing nomination papers, scrutiny and withdraw of nomination papers. The party has set Jan 15 as date for polling for the post of party president.

Odisha: BJD retains Paradeep municipality, bags 16 out of 19 wards

The state ruling BJD once again retained its supremacy in Paradeep civic body elections and claimed 16 councillors  followed by congress satisfied with 2 wards and BJP opened its account capturing one council out of 19 wards , as counting of votes ended on Wednesday afternoon.    Official reports said that BJD won in 16 wards, Congress captured Ward No 4 and 14 while BJP contestant emerged victorious in ward no 7, however independent candidates fighting municipal polls under banner Paradeep Pragati Parishad [PPP] could not open its account and lost security deposit.
