New Delhi: In their fight for supremacy in the Delhi Assembly elections, Congress, BJP and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are trying to woo voters with some interesting assurances in varied fields. 


Many of the promises in their manifestos are not only the suggestions from grass root workers, but also ideas, which are being implemented in other parts of the country or world. 

BJP, the principal opposition party has promised to come up with a Common Smart Card that could be used in Metro and DTC buses, an idea more prevalent in cities like Singapore. 

In terms of urban planning, the party has promised a parking master plan and multi-level under-ground parking, which is either practiced or has taken off in cities like Mumbai. 

Apart from these, BJP has assured that it will make Delhi, a Solar Energy Capital if it comes to power. It has also promised implementing the Chhattisgarh model and revamp its Public Distribution System. 

The party has further promised to implement "Essential Drug Policy", considered to be the pet project of Chief Ministerial candidate Harsh Vardhan, and have a system of mobile OPDs in weaker section colonies. 

To woo voters from East Delhi, BJP has promised an "East Delhi Campus" of the Delhi University. To attract people from the northeast, the party has promised 24 hours helpline for the students of northeast for security purpose. 

In its manifesto, the new entrant AAP too has tried to woo different sections of the society ranging from women, youth, rickshaw drivers to minorities. 

Lack of an effective sewerage system is a major problem of the capital and the party has promised to connect all houses with a sewerage system. 

AAP has also identified the low existence of toilets in the capital and has promised over 2 lakh public and community toilets. 

It also promises to being a law to regulate fees and donations in private schools and improving standard of government schools. In the health sector, it plans to built more government hospitals. 

Further, it wants to introduce laws regulating pay and working hours and conditions of domestic workers. 

The Congress manifesto highlights its achievements of its 15-year rule. It trumpets the UPA flagship's Food Security Programme. 

It promises to provide piped gas throughout Delhi. With Opposition gunning at the party over electricity, Congress has said that it will enhance power capacity to 2600 MWs. It also promises to address the issue of parking by setting up of a central parking authority. To woo women voters, it has promised constructing at least 20 toilets in every constituency for women. 

In the field of education it promises to start 150 new government schools. 

Interestingly, all parties have sought to woo minorities and weaker sections in their manifestos.
