New Delhi: BJP leader Dr Harsh Vardhan on Monday denied reports of a rift within the party over the chief ministerial candidate saying it is not important who is given what post.

Harsh Vardhan, a former Delhi health minister, also called reports of difference with Delhi BJP President Vijay Goel baseless and a creation of the media. "It is not important who get what post. We take inspiration from leaders like Deen Dayal Upadhyay, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee and works done by Atalji & Advaniji," said Harsh Vardhan.

He added, "Our central leaders will take decisions and we will abide by it. I am no one to say when or who should be the chief ministerial candidate, it is for the party to decide. The people will answer the opposition. I don't need to say anything to them.

" Harsh Vardhan's comments came a day after Vijay Goel urged the party top brass to name him as the chief ministerial candidate for the Assembly elections. Goel had reportedly threatened to quit the party but later issued an clarification saying he was not in the race for the chief minister's post. "Since I am not a member of the Central Election Committee of the BJP, I was not to attend the meeting of the same.

Therefore the reports in certain sections of media regarding my walking out and threat to resign are baseless," said Goel. Harsh Vardhan is considered the frontrunner to be named BJP chief ministerial candidate.

A BJP Parliamentary Board meet may be called soon to decide how to resolve the deadlock. Meanwhile, Congress General Secretary Digvijaya Singh took a dig at the BJP saying, "When there can be differences while naming Narendra Modi as BJP's prime ministerial candidate, then a rift during naming the party's CM candidate for Delhi is only expected.

" AAP leader Manish Sisodia also hit out at the BJP saying, "The party will have to pay a heavy price for this in-fighting. While we fight elections, the BJP will be busy fighting among themselves. The BJP is not concerned about the common man's needs."
