Arvind Kejriwal will do 100 rallies this poll season

Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal to address over 100 rallies this poll season

NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal has finally started campaigning for the assembly elections. From December 1, the former chief minister has been attending sabhas in various constituencies in the capital and is expected to address more than a 100 meetings till the polls, presuming that elections will be held in February.

"Kejriwal has already addressed sabhas in Delhi Cantt, Karol Bagh, Gandhi Nagar and Vishwas Nagar. After he comes back from Dubai and the US on December 9, Kejriwal will be addressing around 2-3 sabhas daily. Kejriwal is AAP's star campaigner and there is massive demand for him to speak across the city," said sources.

The meetings are likely to be held on a fixed pattern for a month or so. The meetings will be small and the party will ensure that Kejriwal is visible to everyone, unlike a rally for instance where he would be far away on a stage.

The party will also focus on two aspects during the campaign. First, the party will try to hardsell the achievements and the promises it made and fulfilled during its 49-day rule. Second, it will try to convince people that Prime Minister Modi, on whose popularity the BJP is banking on, won't be a solution to its city-level problems.

It has also come up with a slogan, 'Delhi ka badlenge haal. Panch saal Kejriwal' (Arvind Kejriwal government will work for five years this time to improve the bad condition of Delhi).

The party has decided to focus on booth level campaign and will assign 25 houses to every booth level worker. The party could not undertake door to door campaign due to paucity of resources in the Lok Sabha election and lost miserably. It had used a similar tactic, which was one of the reasons for winning 28 seats in its spectacular debut.

"In the last 25 days or so, Kejriwal should be addressing around 60 sabhas. In due course, AAP will launch Jhadu Yatra-II. Other senior members will also be working on ground, addressing meetings across constituencies. These include MP Bhagwant Mann, Yogendra Yadav, Ashutosh, Sanjay Singh, Dilip Pandey and Ashish Khetan," said party sources.
