Ramanjeet Kaur has been fielded from ward 11, former senior Deputy Mayor Krishan Garg’s daughter-in-law Monika Garg from ward 12, Vijay Singla from ward 13, former councillor Ram Chander Kala from ward 14 and Sonia Pandit from ward 15.

Rajni Parocha has been given a chance from ward 16, Gaje Singh Saini from ward 17, former councillor Dimple Rani’s husband Harish Kumar from ward 18, former councillor Bhagwan Dass Aghi’s son Rajesh Aghi from ward 19 and Sudhir Yadav from ward 20.

The state election committee of Haryana BJP on Saturday finalized the names of Mayor candidates of five municipal corporations in the elections on December 16.

According to information over 150 candidates had applied for the candidature of the mayor on BJP tickets.

Manmohan Singh, the son-in-law of Jindal's in Hisar, has been the favourite of the saffron party for Rohtak. Goyal has recently shifted from Congress to BJP. His father was a senior RSS leader and a former MLA from Rohtak, who followed well in the city.

Other candidates, who were finalized by the committee headed by State BJP president Subhash Barla, were Renu Bala from Karnal, Gautam Sardana of Hisar, Avneet Kaur of Panipat and Madan Chauhan from Yamunanagar.

Prominent among those who attended the meeting included CM Manohar Lal Khattar and Haryana in charge Anil Jain, union ministers Rao Inderjit Singh and Krishan Pal Gujjar, state ministers Ram Bilas Sharma Capt Abhimanyu, Kavita Jain Anil Vij and Banwari Lal.

Barala and CM Khattar have expressed satisfaction over the selection of candidates. Barala said that party will make a clean sweep in the civic polls.

On Sunday, the election Committee will finalize the list of candidates for the councillors of all the five Civic bodies. District level election committees have sent the names of five probable each from one ward.

The Election Commission of India on Saturday announced dates for assembly polls in five states -- Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram and Telangana.

Elections in Chhattisgarh will take placeon November 12 and on November 20 respectively in two phases.

In Madhya Pradesh and Mizoram, voting will be held in one phase on November 28.

For Rajasthan and Telangana voting will be held in one phase as well on December 7.

Results for all the five states will be out on December 11.

EC announces elections to five Rajya Sabha seats {loadposition googlead}

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday nominated senior leader Sanjay Singh, Delhi-based businessman, Sushil Gupta and chartered accountant Narain Dass Gupta as its Rajya Sabha nominees, triggering a spat within the party and attracting criticism from opposition parties on its picks.

  1. Three Rajya Sabha members from Delhi and one each from Uttar Pradesh and Sikkim will be retiring from the upper house of Parliament next month.
  2. The Election Commission (EC) on Friday announced elections to five Rajya Sabha seats from the states of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Sikkim for which polling, if required, will be held on 16 January.
  3. Three Rajya Sabha members from Delhi and one each from Uttar Pradesh and Sikkim will be retiring from the upper house of Parliament next month.
  4. In Delhi, the seats are currently held by Karan Singh, Janardan Dwivedi and Parvez Hashmi of the Congress party who will be retiring on 27 January. Hishey Lachungpa of the Sikkim Democratic Front will be retiring from his Rajya Sabha seat on 23 February.
  5. The Uttar Pradesh seat was vacated by Manohar Parrikar after assuming charge as the Goa chief minister. His term was to otherwise end on 25 November 2020.
