Assembly Elections 2018: TRS as Telangana goes to polls on December 7

TELANGANA SCHEDULE : 

NOMINATION: 19th NOV

SCRUTINY: 20th NOV

WITHDRAWL: 22nd NOV

VOTING: 7th DEC

RESULTS: 11th DEC

Notifications for the polls in Telangana will be issued on November 12, with the final date for filing nominations on November 19. Candidates can withdraw their nomination until November 22. Polling in the state will happen on December 7.

There are 119 seats to hold in Telangana. Caretaker Chief Minister Chandrashekhar Rao dissolved the assembly on September 6. Telangana Governor ESL Narasimhan accepted the state cabinet decision to dissolve the Legislative Assembly after meeting with KC Rao of the state.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) yesterday claimed that the government has minimized its mind on the dissolution of the assembly, whose term ends next year.

Governor has asked Rao to continue as caretaker Telangana CM till the new government is formed.

Earlier on Saturday, the Election Commission of India (EC) announced the poll schedules for Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Mizoram.

Addressing a press conference, CEC OP Rawat said that the elections in all five states will be held simultaneously. The model code of conduct in all the states will come into effect from today.

Apart from Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram, and Rajasthan will go to polls.
