JMM president Hemant Soren is contesting from two seats - Dumka and Barhet. Her sister-in-law Sita Soren is contesting from the Jama constituency. All three are ST reserved seats. In 2014, Hemant Soren won from Barhet by a margin of around 24,000 votes, but lost to BJP's Lewis Marandi from Dumka. Barhet assembly constituency comes under Rajmahal Lok Sabha constituency, which is the only seat won by JMM in 2019. JMM's Vijay Hansdak won the BJP candidate Hemant Murmu by nearly 100,000 votes.

Hemant Soren said, "There is a lot of anger among people and they are with us." "JMM has won both Assembly and Lok Sabha elections." Jagdish Murmu, a para teacher at Barhat Bazaar, said, "This is not an MLA but an election to elect the next Chief Minister of the state." "We will vote Hemant Soren."

Finally we will see where the 'hawa' is and vote accordingly. Jama has been a JMM stronghold long before Jharkhand came into existence and the party has been winning this seat since 1980, 2005, when it joined the BJP. Won the seat twice.
