Factual information of 2013 Delhi assembly election result https://infoelections.com/infoelection/delhi-news/9396-factual-information-of-2013-delhi-assembly-election-result.html https://infoelections.com/infoelection/delhi-news/9396-factual-information-of-2013-delhi-assembly-election-result.html Factual information of 2013 Delhi assembly election result
PARTY 2013 (%) Seats
AamAadmi Party AAP 29.49 28
Bhartiya Janata Party BJP 33.07 31
Indian National Congress  INC 24.55 8
Independents IND 10 1
Shiromani Akali Dal  SAD 1 1
Janata Dal (United) JDU 0.87 1
None of the above NOTA 1.02 -
Total 100 70

Newly formed party AAP who was contesting for the first time in Indian election was trying to consolidate the Delhi voter’s mood in their favor. Whereas the Congress who dominated the nerves of Delhi voters for 15 years seems to be pretty weak for upcoming election as there was huge anti-incumbency against the Congress and the Sheila Dixit Government. Whereas the BJP graph was rising across the nation due to dip of Congress who is their toughest rival.  {loadposition leadtechad}

There was a Single candidate from Shiromani Akali Dal and JD(U) who won the seat in 2013 election.

However, when the complete result was declared it was seen that no single party has got the complete majority to form the government in Delhi whereas the BJP was single largest party in 2013 election. {loadposition googleadr}

After many ups and downs in Delhi it was finally decided that AAP will form the government by making an external alliance with the Congress. Finally, Arvind Kejriwal won the crown of Delhi Chief Minister. Though the government haven’t run longer and finally after the internal clash among the AAP and INC the government has fallen in Delhi. The government in Delhi run only for 49 days but Kejriwal left a strong image among the mind set of the voters that Kejriwal if got the chance again can bring change in Politics. {loadposition googleadr}

After long president rule finally when no party was able to prove its majority in Delhi assembly it was declared that Delhi assembly election will take place in 2015. Where AAP created a history in IndianPolitics and won 67 seats.

{loadposition leadtechad}

In 2015 Delhi witness a completely different kind of election. In 2015 it was complete Modi wave that was making its impact cross the nation but despite of such a strong dominance of BJP, AAP showed his strength and won one sidedly. Voters of nation has witness first kind of its trend after Independence where newly formed party has won 95% of seat and central governing party was just confined to 3 seats in heart of Nation.

No opinion poll has shown such statics and predicting that Congress will be confined to 0 and BJP will win only 3 seats but when the result was declared it was completely different scenario and it was AAP all around.

Let’s take the stats of past election and vote share of party in Delhi in 2015 elections:

PARTY 2015 (%) Seats
AamAadmi Party AAP 54.3 67
Bhartiya Janata Party BJP 32.2 3
Indian National Congress INC 9.7 0
Bahujan Samaj Party BSP 1.3 0
Indian National Lok Dal INLD 0.6 0
Independents IND 0.5 0
Shiromani Akali Dal SAD 0.5 0
Unrecognized parties UP 0.5 0
None of the above NOTA 0.4 -
Total 100 70

Above stats gives us clear indication that AAP has broken all the records of Indian politics by winning 67 seatsin 2015 elections. But just after 2 year when MCD election took place in Delhi it was completely different result. It was BJP who won with a thumping majority and marked his dominance on Delhi voters. Similar, was trend seen in 2019 election where BJP marked strong dominanceand secured all the 7 seats in Delhi. {loadposition googleadr}

But for upcoming assembly election strategist and all the pre-poll surveys are showing that AAP has strengthen their position and will retain a firm government in Delhi. This is most likely because of the fact that free service and restructuring of Delhi School models are making strong impact on the mind set of Delhi voters.

The BJP’s vote share in Delhi Assembly was intact in 2013 and in 2015. But it needs more votes to win Delhi Assembly election. The BJP has pinned its hope on Shaheen Bagh protest for greater consolidation in its favor.

Delhi election Live updates

BJP hasn’t projected any Chief Ministerial candidate for the upcoming election.Like the other election they want to fight in name of Narendra Modi only. The BJP had failed with a CM face against Kejriwal in 2013 and 2015 Delhi elections. {loadposition leadtechad}

The other hope of the BJP is consolidation of floating votes in its favor. The analysts call it polarization. Hence, the anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protest at Shaheen Bagh area of Delhi becomes an election issue in the national capital territory.

At an election rally, Union Home Minister Amit Shah told the voters to help the BJP make a Delhi where "there is no Shaheen Bagh". He said, "Your vote to BJP candidate will make Delhi and the country safe and prevent thousands of incidents like Shaheen Bagh. {loadposition googleadr}

On the other hand, Kejriwal is stating that BJP has deployed his entire team they'll bring 200 of their MPs, 70 union ministers, 11 BJP CMs to the people of Delhi. People of Delhi didn't support them. Now they're bringing people from outside. They're bringing them to defeat people of Delhi.

He further added that People are proud of Delhi's education revolution; government schoolchildren are proud of their hard work. They won’t be misguided by any fake promise and will cast their vote on the hard-working party only.

As the elections are approaching the heat for Delhi election is also rising, where the major parties like AAP, BJP and Congress are in full swing and don’t want to leave any flaw in their campaign to win the seat.

Though every opinion poll conducted in Delhi indicates that AAP will retain their government in Delhi. However, BJP would be their toughest rival in upcoming days and position of INC is pretty weak like the past election.

DELHI ELECTION UPDATES

2020 Delhi polls will be a clash between Arvind Kejriwal’s governance & PM Modi’s nationalist pitch via CAA-NRC. Congress is hardly a factor. {loadposition leadtechad}

However, strategist believes that BJP will play a strong game in upcoming days as union budget will be announced on 1st Feb 2020 that will polarize the voters in favour of BJP but still AAP will remain in firm position to retain their government in Delhi.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is running an aggressive campaign for the assembly elections next month, will hold several roadshows in the national capital where he is expected to highlight the achievements of his AamAadmi Party government in the last five years.

AAP has a to bear a loss on the seat as Preeti Tomar, wife of AAP leader and former state minister Jitendra Tomar to replace him as the candidate from Tri Nagar. Delhi High Court had cancelled MLA election of Jitendra Tomar over false information in the affidavit.

Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari promised that the saffron party will install 60 smog towers if it forms the government. {Loadposition googleadr}

He also asserted that the AAP government has failed and the people of Delhi are ready to support the saffron party with the slogan, “Bahut Ho Gaya Dilli Ka Nuksaan, Ab BJP KaregiIskaSamadhan”. The AAP led by Arvind Kejriwal has promised free bus services for students and 24-hour drinking water supply. The Chief Minister has guaranteed basic facilities for unauthorized colonies in the capital and to reduce air pollution by three times. He also claimed that none of the promises has been fulfilled by the CM he only betrayed the people of Delhi in the last 5 years.

Election Commission banned Kapil Mishra for 48 hours for campaigning to post controversial tweets

New Delhi:Cracking the whip, the Election Commission on Saturday imposed a 48-hour campaigning ban on BJP candidate from Delhi's Model Town constituency Kapil Mishra over his controversial tweets.{loadposition leadtechad}

The ban order, approved by the Chief Election Commissioner and two fellow Election Commissioners, came into force from 5 pm on Saturday, EC officials said.

The order, they said, referred to Mishra's tweets of 22 and 23 January. "Delhi meinchotechote Pakistan bane (Number of mini Pakistan has been created in Delhi)", "ShaheenBaghmein Pakistan ki entry", "India Vs Pakistan 8 February Delhi", and AAP and Congress have created ShaheenBagh like Pakistan are some of the contents in the tweets the EC order referred to.

While Twitter had taken down one of his controversial tweets on Friday following directions of the EC, an FIR was lodged against him under section 125 of the Representation of the People Act dealing with creating enmity among classes.

The order said the poll panel was not satisfied with Mishra's reply to the show-cause notice issued to him. {loadposition googleadr}

It charged Mishra with violating provisions of the model code of Conduct dealing with aggravating existing differences or creating mutual hatred.

The order said the EC "condemns" the statements made by the BJP candidate and bars him from holding public meets, taking out public processions, holding rallies and road shows giving interviews and making public utterances in electronic, print and social media.

The EC, using its powers under Article 324 of the Constitution, has barred leaders from campaigning in the past either in states or at the national level.

The Delhi Assembly polls will be held on February 8 while the results will be announced on February 11. BJP, which is trying desperately to dethrone Arvind Kejriwal's AAP this time while the position of Congress seems to be pretty weak for the upcoming election.

The Congress ruled the Delhi for three consecutive terms from 1998 to 2013. It is for the first time that it'll go in the Delhi assembly polls in alliance with another party, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). {loadposition leadtechad}

From BJP, prominent among those who've got tickets are Delhi BJP spokesperson Tajinderpal Singh Bagga from Hari Nagar and BJP's Purvanchal Morcha president Manish Singh from Delhi Cantonment.

In an unusual twist, BJP's old ally, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), is not contesting along with the saffron party this time. Instead, the BJP has roped in JD (U) and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP).

Use of technology in Delhi election:

Delhi election this year is tech-enabled. Not just QR-code enabled voter slip and booth app, the EC has put the entire voter list online. The poll officials will scan the pre-printed voter slips containing the QR-code to mark the electors' attendance for casting their votes. {loadposition googleadr}

Voters (for the first time) can download their digital photo voter slip from 'Voter Helpline' app which is available on Google Play store and Apple app store.

The EC has also suggested the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to forecast the queue length at the polling booths through the Voter Helpline Mobile app.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded Sunil Yadav to fight against chief minister and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal from the New Delhi constituency in the assembly elections next month.

Congress has nominated former president of National Students’ Union of India’s Delhi unit Romesh Sabharwal to fight against Kejriwal. It will be Romesh Sabharwal’s first major election in his 40-year-old political career.

Second list

The BJP’s second list for the upcoming Delhi assembly elections also has the name of Tajinder Pal Bagga, who will contest from the Hari Nagar constituency against the ruling AAP’s Princess Dhillon.

According to the list, Ramesh Khanna will be contesting from Rajouri Garden, Manish Singh has been fielded from Delhi Cantt constituency and Sumanlata Shokeen will be contesting from Nangloi Jat.

The BJP in its first list, released on January 17, gave tickets to 20 new faces in the Delhi assembly polls among 57 candidates that it declared with sitting and several former members of legislative assembly (MLAs).

Among these 57 candidates, four are women and 11 belong to the Dalit community.

The BJP faces a tough battle in Delhi where it has been out of power for more than two decades. The party could win only three seats in the last assembly polls in 2015 with the AAP scoring a landslide victory with 67 seats.

The voting for the 70-member Delhi assembly will be held on February 8. The votes will be counted on February 11.
