Jalandhar Parliamentary Constituency is one of the 13 Lok Sabha constituencies of Punjab. Formed before 1951, it has nine segments of Vidhan Sabha and is reserved for the SC category. 1,339,842 is the total electorate count in the Jalandhar Lok Sabha Constituency (constituency number 4).
Out of these 687,150 number of electorates are males and the remaining 652,692 belong to the female category as the Election commission of India 2009 reports suggest.

About Jalandhar:
The city of Jalandhar is the oldest city of the state and was earlier known as Prasthala. It lies on the Grand Trunk Road, which is about 140 km away from Chandigarh. It covers an area of 3,400 sq km and has an average elevation of about 230 metres. Rivers Beas and Sutlej surround the city.
Jalandhar has a population of over 8,80,000 with over 50% consisting of males. It has a sex ratio of 915 females per 1,000 males. Punjabi is the official language of the city. It has an average literacy rate of 83% and is also home to the famous Lovely Professional University. Jalandhar is a highly developed industrial city with many automobile factories, glass making and furniture industries, hospitals and several several NGOs. It is one of the most peaceful cities in the region.
