About Parliamentary Constituency: Once identified as a downmarket habitat for Delhiites, Trans-Yamuna since then has transformed into being one of the most sought-after addresses in the national Capital. The ever-expanding horizons of this area, located across the river, led to a population boom, which further resulted in its bifurcation into two parliamentary constituencies, namely, East Delhi and North-East Delhi. Marked by scores of group housing societies and JJ colonies, East Delhi got a major facelift due to the Commonwealth Games, 2010. |

The East Delhi parliamentary constituency now has 15.70 per cent Muslims, 14.35 Punjabis, 14.82 per cent SCs, 12.45 per cent OBCs, 11 per cent Brahmins, 11-12 per cent migrants from UP and Bihar, 9 per cent Baniyas, 6.74 per cent Gujjars, 3 per cent Sikhs and 1 per cent South Indian voters. |
