Top BJP leaders including UP CM Yogi Adityanath and BJP National President Amit Shah will attend the meeting.

A mid talks of an alliance of SP (Samajwadi Party) with BSP (Bahujan Samaj Party), Uttar Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will be holding a two-day state executive meeting in Meerut on August 11, 12 to chalk out strategy for the 2019 general election. Party chief Amit Shah will also attend the crucial meeting along with top state leaders.

The decision to convene the meeting was taken at a high level meeting called by UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and state BJP chief Mahendra Nath Pandey at party office in Lucknow on Wednesday.

The meeting was also attended by both the deputy CMs Keshav Maurya and Dinesh Sharma along with other senior ministers.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, UP BJP chief Mahendra Nath Pandey said that the "roadmap for 2019 Lok Sabha election will be discussed in the state executive meeting. Amit Shah will also attend the meeting to brief party leaders on how to strengthen the vote bank in every booth across the state".

Discussions were also held regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming events in UP including a mega farmer rally in Shahjahanpur on July 21 after minimum support price (MSP) for at least 19 crops were raised by the government, added Pandey.

"Leaders have been directed to strengthen the party's reach in areas dominated by SP-BSP and to reach out to maximum number of voters by highlighting achievements of both the central and the state government. The Western UP district Meerut has been chosen for the state executive because of a sizeable population of Dalits, backward classes and Muslims there," said a BJP leader on the condition of anonymity.

Speaking to India Today, UP BJP spokesperson Manish Shukla said, "It's true that 2019 election will be the biggest agenda of the state executive meeting but it's a routine process which happens every year. Issues like progress of developmental schemes and strengthening the party will be taken up primarily. The current political situation will also be discussed."
