Shrigonda municipal council election result 2019

Ahmednagar: In the local body elections, the BJP retained its winning streak. The saffron party today won with a majority in the election of Shrigonda Municipality of Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won 11 of the 19 seats and the Congress-NCP alliance has managed to win 8 seats in the elections. 

Voting was held on Sunday for the election of Shrigonda Municipality Council in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra. Counting of votes held today. The majority needed 10 seats. A total of 71 candidates contested for 19 seats, 10 out of the 19 seats reserved for women. The BJP won 11 seats, the BJP won most of the seats in the municipal council elections. With this win, the BJP continued its victory in civil body elections.

BJP gets a majority but Congress-NCP won President

In this election, BJP won 11 seats out of total 19 seats but Congress-NCP alliance won 8 posts, including the post of the president of the municipal council. Three were total three candidates for the post of president, in which Sunita Shinde (BJP), Shubhangi Pote (Congress-NCP) and Sirabji Qureshi (Sambhaji Brigade). Finally Congress-NCP's candidates Shubhangi Pote won the election of president post by defeating the BJP's Sunita Shinde by 1500 votes. Shubhangi Pote who won the day for the NCP-Congress was earlier with the BJP. But she switched over to the Congress party with just a few days to go for the municipal election. 

The Shiv Sena had also contested a few seats in this election. However, they could not win a single seat.
