ABP News-Nielsen Opinion Poll: BJP Likely to form Govt in delhi with absolute Majority; Kejriwal & Harsh Vardhan most popular choice for CM
New Delhi: The prospects of Aam Aadmi Party again emerging to power in the national capital have taken a serious hit, reveals ABP News-Nielsen Opinion Poll. The Election Commission had last week cancelled the scheduled by-elections to three Delhi Assembly seats after President Pranab Mukherjee dissolved the legislature.
The election commission is yet to announce the poll dates but reports say it may be held early next year. This has set the stage for fresh elections with political parties finalizing their campaign strategy to rise to power.
President's rule was imposed in Delhi since February after the Kejriwal-led AAP government stepped down after remaining in power for 49 days. In the 2013 assembly polls, AAP had secured a vote share of 29.49% while BJP and Congress got 33.07% and 24.55% respectively.

BJP to win 46 seats out of 70
The BJP is growing from strength to strength, first with the landslide victories in the Lok Sabha polls and now with back to back victories in the assembly elections of Maharashtra and Haryana. The survey has predicted that BJP will perform stupendously by bagging at least 46 seats in the 70-member assembly. It had won 31 in the 2013 December assembly polls. This means that BJP would form the government on its own by gaining absolute majority.
AAP’s downslide from 28 to 18
AAP which had won 28 seats in its superb sdebut is seen winning just 18 seats. Kejriwal admitted that his decision to resign as the chief minister of Delhi was a mistake but also rejected criticism that he quit the government as he had had PM ambitions. .
Looking at AAP numbers now, does this mean that a large section doesn't want to vote for the party as they have lost faith in Kejriwal and want to try out BJP which has been still riding on the Modi wave?
It doesn’t seem that AAP’s vote bank last year would give the party the mandate this year as well since the perception and equations have changed over months. The vote share percentage of AAP is 26% while 38% is of the BJP. Congress gets 22%, Others get 14%.
Congress reduced to just 5
Congress which has been in disarray has slumped further this time around. It had won 8 seats earlier but is projected to win just 5 now.

Arvind Kejriwal Govt
Vardhan’s image is of being non-corrupt, transparent, honest and simple leader in both his personal and professional life. However, about two-third respondents said that they were satisfied with the work done by Arvind Kejriwal in his 49 days tenure - this may be the reason why even now he is still considered amongst favourables for the position of CM by respondents of Delhi. Sheila Dikshit who has refused to contest polls this time is at a distant third getting 7% votes.
