About Chikkodi:

Chikkodi is geographically located in the Belgaum District, and covers a part of this district, which is located in northwestern Karnataka.

As one of the 30 administrative districts in the state, Belgaum has as its administrative seat and its municipal corporation, the city of Belgaum. Belgaum is the fourth-largest city in the state of Karnataka, closely following Bangalore, Hubli-Dharwad, and Mysore. The economy of the Belgaum district, which is known as the ‘Rice Bowl’ or ‘Bread Basket’ of North Karnataka, is mainly reliant on agricultural products such as vegetables and fruits, besides poultry, fish etc. Belgaum is slowly flourishing as one of the prime regions of heavy tools manufacturing. It is famous for housing rich deposits of mineral reserves such as Bauxite, and this has led to the creation of the renowned Indian company Hindalco Industries.

Present Political Scenario:

The Katti brothers are virtually undefeatable here, so BJP has re-nominated Ramesh Katti. The only man who can take him on is small scale industries minister in the state Congress government, Prakash Hukkeri, but he is disinclined to fight an MP election and sacrifice his ministry.
