About the Constituency:
The Misrikh Parliamentary constituency (constituency number 32) has a total of 1,464,770 electorates out of which 656,361 are females and 808,409 are males according to Election Commission of India 2009 reports. It covers portions of the Sitapur and Hardoik districts. The city of Misrikh or Misrikh Neemsar is a municipality of the Sitapur District and is famous for being the birthplace of the great Hindu Sage Dadhichi. It is located at a distance of 23 km from the Sitapur city.

Formed before the 1962 elections, Misrikh Parliamentary Constituency is one of the Uttar Pradesh's 80 Lok Sabha constituencies, reserved for the SC category and has five Vidhan Sabha segments.

About Misrikh:

The city of Misrikh or Misrikh Neemsar is a municipality of the Sitapur District and is famous for being the birthplace of the great Hindu Sage Dadhichi. It is located at a distance of 23 km from the Sitapur city. Hindi is the official and widely spoken language here where as Awadhi is also used by several locals. Sitapur is one of India's 250 most backward districts and Misrikh hereby receives grants from the Backward Regions Grant Fund Programme. The city is well connected via the various highways passing through the district.

 

Demography:

The city has a population of over 15,163 as of 2001 census with 53% males and 47% females. Children below six years of age constitute about 15% of the population and the sex ratio is 879 females per 1000 males. About 96% of the population is Hindu and the city serves as a holy area for the same. The average literacy rate is 65% with male literacy at 71% and female literacy at 58%.

BJP may get a big chunk of Chamar, Brahmin and OBC votes.
Dalit Voters especially Chamars are expected to be more loyal towards BJP more than BSP.
