  6. After round 12 of 21, BJD candidate Rita Sahu extends her lead to 28,282 votes over BJP’s Ashok Panigrahi in Odisha. The results are expected to be declared by today evening.  

  7. After 11th round out of 21, BJD candidate Rita Sahu extends her lead to 25,166 votes over BJP’s Ashok Panigrahi.

  9. After round 9 of 21, BJD candidate Rita Sahu extends her lead to 20,791 over BJP’s Ashok Panigrahi.
  10. After the eighth round of vote count show BJD candidate in lead against BJP and Congress:
     
    BJD’s Rita Sahu: 45,044 votes
    BJP’s Ashok Panigarhi: 25,989 votes
    Congress’s Pranay Sahu: 2,263 votes
  11. After the sixth round of vote count, BJD’s Rita Sahu leads with 33,377 votes in Bijepur Bye-Election 2018 results. The BJP and Congress candidates, both have secured 20,579 votes and 1,877 votes.
  12. After the fourth round of vote count, BJD’s Rita Sahu is leading against the BJP candidate by over 8,000 votes. She has bagged 23,054 votes whereas, the BJP candidate has gained 14,175 votes and the Congress candidate is trailing behind with 1,425 votes.    


  13. The BJD candidate has gained more lead against the BJP and Congress candidates in Bijepur. BJP’s Rita Sahu has bagged 17,387 votes. The BJP candidate has gained 9,800 votes and the Congress candidate 948 votes.
  14.  After the second round of vote count, BJP’s Rita Sahu has bagged 11,676 votes whereas, BJP’s Ashok Panigarhi has gained 5,910 votes. Congress Pranaya Sahu has been able to get only 683 votes.
  15. After the first round, the BJD candidate has got 5,675 votes whereas, BJP’s Ashok Panigarhi has received 2,769 votes and Congress’s Pranaya Sahu is trailing behind with 315 votes.
  16. For Bijepur Assembly Bye-Election 2018, the BJD has fielded Rita Sahu, the wife of Subal Sahu. On the other hand, the Congress has fielded Pranay Sahu from the seat
  17. A total of 13 candidates are in the fray for Bijepurbypoll seat. Bypoll to Bijepur was necessitated following the death of Congress MLA Subal Sahu.
  18. BJD candidate Rita Sahu leads by 2,986 votes against her nearest contender, BJP’s Ashok Panigrahi. Meanwhile, the counting of votes is underway.
  19. The counting of votes for Bijepur Bye-Election 2018 has begun. The results will be declared in a short while. The seat is witnessing a tough contest between the BJP, BJD and the Congress.

  1. In Odisha Bijepur bypoll Election, 72 percent polling was recorded till 5 pm.

  8. The main contenders are BJP’s Ashok Panigrahy, BJD’s Rita Sahu and Congress' Pranay Sahu.

Odisha Bijepur By Poll Election 2018


  1. The by-election for the Bijepur assembly constituency in Odisha will be held on February 24 this year, the Election Commission of India (EC) announced on Tuesday. According to the EC schedule, while January 30 has been fixed as the date for issuing the gazette notification, the last date for filing of nominations is February 6.
  2. The date of scrutiny of nomination papers is February 7 and nominations can be withdrawn till February 9. The counting of votes and declaration of results would take place on February 28.
  3. The by-poll has been necessitated by the death of sitting Congress MLA Subal Sahu.
  4. Even as dates for Bijepur by-election are yet to be announced, a virtual war has broken out between BJD and BJP to bag the seat.
  5. The battle at Bijepur is one of prestige and pride as the outcome would set the ball rolling for 2019 general elections.
  6. While BJD has roped in Ritarani Sahu, the widow of Subal, as its candidate, BJP has managed to pull estranged BJD leader Ashok Panigrahy into its party fold. However, joining of Ritarani and Ashok in BJD and BJP respectively has created dissension in both the parties.
