Maharashtra elections 2014: Nitin Gadkari says he's not in race to be CM, says BJP will win Haryana too

Maharashtra DistrictsNew Delhi: The Union Minister of Transport and Rural Development, Nitin Gadkari has made it clear that he is not a contender for the post of Maharashtra Chief Minister and he does not want to go back to his home state.

In an exclusive interview to CNN-IBN, Gadkari said that the BJP was confident that it will get a full majority in Maharashtra, because "people's mood was against the Congress-NCP due to last 15 years of misrule".

"There was a reaction against them. At the same time there is a hope in the minds of people from PM Narendra Modi and the central government. And definitely people will want development and will support the BJP," Gadkari said.

Commenting on the exit polls predicting BJP victory in Haryana, the former national president of the BJP said, "First of all our party is ideological, organizational party. And we are all working for the country, ideology and party. As far as elections are concerned we have got good results in Haryana in the Lok Sabha and the same result will repeat in this one."

Commenting on the possibility of the Shiv Sena and the BJP coming together after the election results, Gadkari said that he was confident that the BJP would get full majority on its own.

He also denied the possibility of the BJP allying with the NCP if it falls short of the numbers. "I am confident that we will get full majority on our own," he repeated.
