An alleged act of 11 Shiv Sena MPs has outraged the nation during the holy month of Ramzan. In a highly insensitive act, the 11 MPs allegedly forced a Muslim catering supervisor to break his Ramzan fast at Maharashtra Sadan in New Delhi last week.

The MPs were apparently angry over not being served Maharashtrian food and were also not satisfied with the quality of the food being served, as per a report. The incident took place when a group of around 15 MPs were discussing complaints about the lack of services at the sadan, they then got hold of Arshad Zubair S, who was fasting for Ramzan.

Sena MP from Thane Rajan Vichare then forced a roti into the mouth of Zubair while others looked on. Indian Railways' IRCTC, which was looking after the catering service at the sadan, has complained in writing to the Maharashtra Resident Commissioner. Besides Vicahre, the other Sena MPs named in the letter are -

  1. Sanjay Raut (Rajya Sabha),
  2. Anandrao Adsul (Amravati),
  3. Arvind Sawant (Mumbai-South),
  4. Hemant Godse (Nashik),
  5. Krupal Tumane (Ramtek),
  6. Ravindra Gaikwad (Osmanabad),
  7. Vinayak Raut (Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg),
  8. Shivaji Adhalrao Patil (Shirur),
  9. Rahul Shewale (Mumbai-South Central)
  10. Shrikant Shinde (Kalyan)

The incident came to light on Wednesday when an English daily published a report on the matter. Within hours, a video of the incident was also being played on news channels. The incident also rocked Parliament, with both houses being adjourned for a short while as opposition members sought a discussion on the matter. Shiv Sena MP Anant Geete denied in Parliament that such an incident ever took place. However, the video footage has nailed Shiv Sena's lie.
